Indian researchers discovered rare supernova, may know the secrets of universe formation

Indian researchers have succeeded in detecting a special kind of bright star. This supernova star is illuminated by the energy of another source. In addition, its magnetic field is also very powerful. The Union Ministry of Science and Technology gave this information on Saturday. Such supernovae are called superluminous supernovae and are extremely rare. The ministry says that an in-depth study of this supernova can be helpful in solving the mysteries of the universe.

Superluminous supernovae are rare because they originate from very massive stars. These stars are 25 times more massive than the Sun and the number of such stars in the universe is also very less. The team has detected this star with the help of the recently installed Devasthal Optical Telescope along with two other Indian telescopes, Sampurnanand and Himalayan Chandra. According to the information given by the ministry, the outer surface of this onion-shaped supernova is open. At the same time, its middle part is getting illuminated by some other energy source.

This study has been carried out under the leadership of Amit Kumar. Amit is doing PhD under Dr SB Pandey. The study is part of information to be published in the Month of the Royal Astronomical Society. This study may also be helpful in gathering information about other supernovae in the future. Also, it can give information about the explosion of gamma rays.
