Smoke has come to the fore within the Russian service module of the International space station. Such an occasion in space can become an enormous problem for the astronauts stationed on the ISS.

The Russian space agency Roscosmos said on Thursday, the 'Smoke Alarm' was activated within the Russian Service Module on the International orbiter (ISS). Russian news agencies reported that the astronauts stationed within the module were smelling of burning plastic (Smoke on ISS).

The RIA wire service quoted Roscosmos as saying that later all systems were working properly. The space agency said that the plan for the activity to be hung on Thursday was still operative.

Roscosmos said that a smoke detector and an alarm were activated on the Zvezda service module. This module is the living accommodations for the crew members on the ISS. During this, the battery for the module is being charged overnight.

Citing broadcast audio communications by the US space agency NASA, the RIA reported that Russian astronaut Oleg Novitsky saw smoke and smelled its stench. French astronaut Thomas Pesquet said the smell of burnt plastic or electronics had spread from the Russian section to the American section.

In recent times, the satellite has faced many problems. Russian space officials said that in July, the ISS was aloof from its normal flight position 400 km above Earth because of software glitches and distractions.
