There was a terrible accident with the Chinese satellite in space, the debris of the Russian rocket hit
A few months ago in May 2021, the entire world stopped breathing because of the news that it had been said that an uncontrolled giant Chinese satellite would enter the Earth's atmosphere. nobody knew where this satellite would fall. The debris of the satellite fell within the Indian Ocean, but except the scientists, nobody tried to understand how this satellite was damaged.
The US 18th Space Control Squadron tweeted on March 23 that a Chinese orbiter 780 km above the surface has been affected after the collision. The 18th SPCS that supports the US Space Surveillance Network and tracks quite 27,000 man-made objects in space. The SPCS believed that YUNHAI 1-02 was collapsing because of some mysterious effect.
Scientists and astronomers started their investigation about this. There was much speculation, but US astronomer Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, responded that YUNHAI 1-02 collided with a bit of debris that came from an old Zenit-2 series Russian rocket.
The Zenit rocket launched the Russian orbiter Selina-2 into space in 1996. As per McDowell, the Chinese satellite was hit by a 4- to 20-inch-wide fragment that came from a wrecked Russian rocket. On space website space.com, McDowell described this event because the first major collision in Earth's orbit since February 2009.
